TRANSCRIPT

PAGE 39-40

We’ve confirmed this by testing air samples and introducing various test/control groups. All bestials reacted the same way. Pushpin has dubbed the pheromone simply, “Fear”.
At high concentrations it induces temporary paralysis, but only in bestial objects. We suspect its purpose is intimidation and social dominance in wild districts. Perhaps this pheromone explains why False Kings are so universally rejected– something unfamiliar that exudes a terrible aura can only be accepted if it proves its worth.
Our doctors doubt the subject will ever reach the size of a true False or Lawless King– too late in life for such growth– but he is healthier, stronger, and, despite the side effects, happy. That is what matters most.

The train pressed onward for hours, green grass giving way to barren, bleak, bluish-grey earth as we climbed north. Then came snow. I had never seen it in person before. At first I was ecstatic, but soon the biting cold and blinding white convinced me that perhaps snow was overrated.
I quickly got into my heated clothing, and eventually we arrived at the station in Silent Neverland. It was actually quite a ways away from Fort Blanket– you’d have to walk through a series of winding snow tunnels to reach the township, and you were only allowed inside with a personal guide. Stepping off the train, the air was so cold that I immediately choked on it. I was introduced by the conductor to my guide, an older gentleman who was part of the guard. I offered my webbed hand, but he didn’t seem thrilled at the sight of me.
I didn’t know much about the region itself– save for some of their amazing findings. The turnover rate of scientists in Fort Blanket was allegedly quite ridiculous, but these short endeavors led to the invention of a special plastic that insulates and protects electronics from the elements. It traps air pockets on a microscopic level, balancing the cold and heat and keeping them separated. And dry.
