Ep 104. Melting Grace

Wick growls loudly. Wick and Gum glare at each other. Wick pounces towards gum, roaring. Wick's bite is blocked by Gum's blade. Text says snap and clang.

Gum thinks, She's a Child of The Night. I need to drain her energy before she drains mine. I need to force her to regenerate! Wick leaps backwards. Text around Wick says leap and thud. She snarls at Gum, who holds her sword defensively. Blue teeth marks on Gum's blade emit white smoke. Wick lunges forward again, text says leap. Gum begins to swing her katana as pink petals fly past her in the wind.

Gum slices through Wick's face. Text says slice. Wick's face reforms quickly as she giggles. Wick lashes out with her clawed foot to strike Gum on her side. Gum is drawn stylistically blue and white to represent searing pain. She's sent flying backwards away from Wick. Text describes Wick's giggling and the sounds of Gum hitting the ground and tumbling away.

Wick teases Gum saying, Let's have fun. I'll play with my food. Gum moans, holding her lower back as it melts. Gum thinks, Fuck. Focus. Gum stands up shakily. Text says stumble. Wick says, So weak. Gum says, I, won't lose.

A short montage shows Gum being flung around. Text repeats the word thud each time she is thrown to the ground.

Wick says, Alright, I'm bored. Gum has been thrown behind her, obscured by a cloud of dust. Gum's hand can be seen gripping one of Wick's tails through the dust cloud. Wick says, Let's put you out of your. She is cut off. Text says slice. Wick yelps. Text describes the sound of her body's fire flaring up.

Gum holds Wick's severed tail in her fist. The flame on the end of the tail goes out, making a sizzling sound. Gum says, Got you. Gum stands up, the severed tail on the ground between her and Wick. Wick turns around. Gum says, You were keeping those tails far away from me until you thought I was weak. Wick stutters, saying, You. Gum says, Go ahead. She stares intensely at Wick from the shadow of her face tag. Gum says, Fix it. Wick regenerates, fixing her injury. Text describes the sound of her tail reigniting.

Wick pants, sweating. Gum dashes forward, saying, You broke a sweat. Your tails are hard to regrow, aren't they? Wick lowers her tails to the grass, burning the ground and creating a smoke screen. She backs up into the smoke, saying, Lucky shot.

Disappearing into the smoke, Wick's eyes and teeth are the only things visible aside from the ends of her tails. She says, You don't scare me, girl. Gum raises her sword, running into the smoke. She shouts, Then why are you hiding? The rest of the page is filled with bright flashes, of the sword being swung and making contact with things. Text fills the page that describes the sound of slicing, yelling, and clangs.

All nine of Wick's tails can be seen with their ends chopped off as the smoke clears. They all begin to regenerate, reigniting with blue fire. Text describes the sound of them bursting into flame. Wick is sweating purple wax, slowly transforming back into a candle and kneeling to the ground while trembling from exhaustion. Wick says, Don't, huff, don't do it! Gum's sword is pointed at Wick's face. Wick says, Huff, You don't know what it's like. As Wick pants, steam leaves her mouth.

Wick collapses further towards the ground, hitting her elbow. Text says thud. Wick asks, How many have you killed, not because you had to, but because you were told to? Gum says, Zero. Sit up. Wick's expression changes from fear to shock. Wick sits up, leaning. Gum says, I have what I want. You'll need to leave. Gum is holding a bundle of Wick's severed tails. Gum continues, Hop a train to a wild district if you want to live.

Wick says, I can't do anything in this state. Huff. And, mother, she'll find me. Gum points the katana in Wick's face again, saying, Take your chances. Wick shouts, Fine! But how? Gum wraps her hand around Wick's neck. Text says grip. She pulls Wick close to her face.

Wick begins to feed, using Gum's life force to regain some of her energy. She licks Gum's lower lip, taking her by surprise. Gum shoves her away. Wick stares at her, before saying, You're no fun. Text describes the sound of fire flaring as Wick transform again into something much smaller.

A tiny kitsune fox made of blue fire scales the cherry blossom tree in the back of the courtyard and leaps onto the top of the brick wall, staring down at Gum. Wick turns around, disappearing. Back in reality, Gum twists and turns in her sleep. Razor's silhouette can be seen from inside the makeshift tent watching her.
