Caressing Sugarcube's face, Minty says, We'll only be gone for a few hours. Sugarcube asks, Do we really leave tomorrow? Minty says, Yeah. We do. We can leave this whole mess behind us now. We're gonna go grab some metal pipes from the construction site first. Don't answer the door for anyone, okay? Brandy stands by the front door, holding it open.
Sugarcube shouts, Wait! Minty stops, looking back towards her asking, What is it, Sugar? Sugarcube asks, Dad, Did I really come from a printer thing? Kneeling down to her level, Minty says, Yeah. I remember. You were so small, I was afraid of losing sight of you. And, You.
Minty hugs Sugarcube. Sugarcube seems worried and contemplative. In the front doorway, Minty waves to Sugarcube, saying We'll be back soon. Okay?
The door slowly closes. Text says creak. Text says shut as the door is closed. The Host appears, engulfing Sugarcube in his shadow.
Minty and Brandy walk through the city together while it snows. The buildings are covered in frozen egg slime and a parasite hive can be seen in the distance. Minty glances towards Brandy with an annoyed expression. Later, at the entrance of the construction site, Minty observes a pipe stuck in a concrete slab. He calls out, Brandy, Maybe you should search the roof top. Staring and saying nothing, Brandy turns around and begins walking towards the other end of the alleyway.
At the other end of the alleyway is a ladder. Brandy climbs the ladder and walks on the rooftop back towards Minty. Text says crunch crunch to describe the sound of his footsteps in the snow. Minty pulls at the pipe stuck in the concrete, saying, Come on. Text says pull.
Brandy shouts, Quit screwing around and look somewhere else. Minty is taken aback. Turning around to face Brandy, Minty shouts, Fine! But I almost had it out! Text says turn. Brandy shouts back, I don't want to be here all day. Minty growls.
The wind howls, making a woo sound. Brandy and Minty walk in the same direction. Text says crunch crunch. Brandy shouts, I hope you know, the minute we're in Marshlight, you're on your own. He grabs a pole and pulls on it. Text says tug. Minty, looking dejected, stutters, I. My own? I'll have my daughter. His expression changes to one of annoyance, the corner of his mouth curling upwards.
That's rich. Thinking they'll give custody to the guy that beats me. Brandy grimaces angrily. Brandy shouts, The only thing I'm beating is the custody case! Minty shouts, Oh, please! The only thing you're good at beating is my face in! Miserable piece of shit! Brandy glares down at Minty, gritting his teeth hard. Overlaid in a red hue, Brandy's eyes are bloodshot with veins that resemble circuits.
In the next panel, Brandy looks over to his right. His hand rests on a large chunk of concrete leaning against the edge of the rooftop. Minty shouts while text describes the sound of heavy creaking and groaning. He says, And don't even think about getting her involved! You know what? Maple Syrup would have forgiven me by now! The area around Minty is growing darker as something approaches.
Looking up, Minty continues. And she would never forgive you for. Minty's mouth hangs open in shock. The giant concrete chunk hits the ground where he stands, making a loud crunch sound. The snow is kicked up in large clouds, obscuring the scene.
Brandy stands trembling with one hand reaching out covered in scuffs from pushing the concrete. He chokes out a sound. His other hand wraps around the metal pipe tightly, pulling and making a long creaking sound. The veins in his eyes subside as he realizes what he's done. Brandy begins running towards the ladder. Text repeats the word crunch. Below, Minty's footprints lead up to the spot the concrete slab hit the ground.
Brandy slides down the ladder. Text says slide. Brandy runs down the alleyway towards Minty, shouting, Anthony? His steps continue crunching in the snow. He freezes, the reflection of the concrete in his eye. A dark blob vaguely resembling Minty is obscured by the icy wind, croaking out, Brandy.
Minty, on the ground, claws his way towards Brandy. His arm is covered in his own blood. He asks, Why? In a longer shot, Minty can be seen crawling through the snow and leaving behind a trail of blood. His scarf, legs, and tail are still under the concrete slab, having been crushed and severed completely.
Minty reaches out towards Brandy, who quickly grasps his paw in his hand. Text says clasp. Minty repeats, Why? Why? Why? Brandy, horrified and sweating, stutters, I. I don't know, I.
Minty says pained, Brandy. You said you'd never hurt me. Brandy stares at him in horror, saying loudly, I'll respawn you. Minty says, Don't. What's the point? Minty begins crying and he slumps over.
Brandy wraps his arms around Minty, pulling him close. Brandy says, Please. Forgive me. He stares up at the sky. Minty sinks his claws into Brandy's arm. Text says sink. Brandy grimaces, crying. He says, Please. Blood wells around Minty's claws as he says nothing. The color leaves his eyes as he dies.
