Ep 86. Late Omen

A songbird tweets as it lands on Comet's hand, which is holding a bushel of seed. It pecks away at the seed as other birds fly through the sky in the background, the weather bright and sunny. Then, it flies off, showing Comet staring after it with a blank expression. She holds her flute in her other hand, resting by her side, and she's surrounded by other songbirds tweeting and pecking at the ground.

She continues to stare off into the middle distance as the tweets and chirps continue, only to glance up in sudden fear as loud cawing starts around her. Before her stands a giant, parasitic amalgamation of crows, standing on spindly insectoid legs and cawing horribly.

Terrified, Comet makes a run for it, the field beginning to fall apart around her until suddenly she falls, tumbling down into the open mouth of a giant crow's skull.

She awakens in a cold sweat with a gasp, the sounds of crow calls surrounding her tent as she looks in fear and confusion towards the crow skull on her new cloak. Putting it on, they leave their tent and chase after the sound, running across the fields towards the city.

Terrified, they look up at the sky as a massive flock of crows flies towards the rings, thinking to themself, Black birds are flying towards, the city?

There is a shot of an ivory horn with a crow perched on its tip, cawing in a panic. Confused, an ethereal voice asks, Dear sister? Before the crow poofs into a cloud of smoke. Comet, back in the Outskirts, watches as the crows form a vortex, the entire flock converging on one single point. From this angle, a hunter's bow can be seen clutched in their hand.

Comet gazes up in silent horror, invading the edges of the panel. Our last shot is a close-up of her terrified, frozen expression, eyes wide in panic as she thinks, Something wicked, tempts me closer. Every day.
